Gilly’s Orange Oil is a versatile maintenance oil suitable for timber and cane furniture. Made from 100% plant-based ingredients, this food-safe oil has a pleasant scent and does not contain silicone. It is a popular choice for maintaining furniture in a natural and safe way, and can be used as an alternative to waxing if a high sheen is not required. Gilly’s Orange Oil has excellent cleaning properties and is especially effective for restoring old, neglected furniture. It is also great for feeding unpolished surfaces and darkening timber. This oil can be used on a variety of surfaces including antiques, kitchen utensils, chopping boards, children’s toys, and the undersides of drawers and tables.

Application

Before application, make sure the surface is clean and dry. Apply the oil with a soft cloth or brush for carved or irregular areas. Let the oil absorb into the timber for 5 minutes, then buff back with another clean cloth. Repeat the same procedure for up to 3 coats, depending on the dryness and porosity of the timber. Be careful not to over-apply, as residue can become sticky and attract dirt. Dry time between coats is 5-10 minutes. Gilly’s Orange Oil can be reapplied as frequently as required if the timber becomes dull or dry, and a light coat every 4-6 months is recommended for maintenance.

This oil will not “dry” in the same way as a varnish or tung oil formula, as it essentially remains in the timber to keep it nourished.

Clean Up with warm, soapy water for hands and application cloths.
